Baldwin County, Alabama Hurricane Ivan Disaster Response September - December 2004
Volunteer Organizations
Active in Disaster
(VOAD)
During
the Hurricane Ivan Disaster Response phase, the South Baldwin United Way accepted
the challenge to "Connect the Dots" in Baldwin County,
Alabama. They accomplished this mission by leading the Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) meetings to bring agencies, organizations, churches and individuals together to help assist with unmet needs of hurricane victims that were not being addressed
by national organizations.
The VOAD meeting minutes are
available below in PDF format.
Information was provided to the community through the South
Baldwin United Way Hotline, 1-800-681-6910, and via their website, www.southbaldwinunitedway.org. The
information provided on the hotline and website was designed to provide as
much information as possible to those needing assistance, as well as
information for those who would like to give assistance to hurricane
victims.
Disaster Response meetings are no longer being held. Ongoing recovery is now being handled by the Baldwin County VOAD Long Term Recovery Team. Please visit the Long Term Recovery pages on this website for information about current recovery activities.
